Marci Romaine

Today I'm interviewing an amazing woman, she's an incredible escort and an old school Penthouse Pet. She has everything any man could desire. She's the very sexy Marci Romaine.
JJ: Welcome to Inside the Porn. It's an absolute pleasure to have you with us.

What got you into the adult industry?

Marci: I’ve had two rounds in the adult industry. I worked as a stripper, topless waitress and centrefold model from my late teens to mid twenties, and I have now returned to the industry in the last two years as a private escort. In the interim I worked in the fitness industry as a group teacher and personal and rehabilitation trainer.

As a young person, I think it was predominately curiosity and a need to explore my sexuality that attracted me to the adult industry.
As a woman approaching my mid 30’s, my motivation was work-life balance. I longed to pursue my studies in classical drawing and painting and my passion for writing. Escorting makes this possible and still allows me to build my life financially.
I believe my sexual confidence coupled with years of experience working with people in an intimate manner in the fitness industry makes me extremely suited to escorting.

JJ: I'm sure people are very glad you decided to start escorting because a woman as beautiful and as articulate as you is always a pleasure to spend time with. It's great to see you're following your passions outside of the industry too.

What is the best thing about the industry?

Marci: The best thing about the industry for me is probably covered in my previous answer; work-life balance. I feel incredibly lucky to have a job that takes up so few working hours for a great income.
Other elements are wonderful too; I really do enjoy having a strong rapport with my clients. Bringing them joy and in some cases helping them to gain confidence and explore themselves is really powerful.

JJ: Having a job that brings people so much joy to people must be a satisfying feeling.

What is the worst thing about the industry?

Marci: Easily the stigmatism faced by sex workers. It’s a very difficult thing to be completely transparent about. I am very lucky to have an extremely supportive and accepting close group of friends, but outside that bubble of security I’m sure there is a lot of judgement. I’m on track to launch a blog this year which will feature some industry content alongside general life experience content. This will lead to me being outed on a new level, and while I am sure of my decision, I’m as scared of rejection as the next person.
As someone who really considers myself to be a feminist, I absolutely hate reading propaganda that assumes all sex workers are in their current situation under duress. Or that there is an implicit misogyny in exchanging sex for income. That was the biggest motivation for changing my advertising to show my face a year ago. I want to do my part to give happy, independent escorts a voice and show the world that the sex industry can actually be incredibly positive on both sides of the equation!
At the same time, I do understand that many people in this industry globally have not been blessed with as much of a choice. Some of these people are being exploited terribly, and criminalisation only pushes the sex industry further underground.
If society and the law were more accepting of sex workers in general, the balance of power would shift to be more in the favour of the workers themselves regardless of their personal situations.

JJ: That's a very admirable thing you're going to be doing with your blog and the points you make there are very important. We have an opportunity to help show the world the adult industry can be a very positive thing.

What’s the funniest thing thing to happen whilst working?

Marci: Oh, I’m laughing at some memories right now. I actually wouldn’t know where to start!!
The things that spring to mind are not things I can repeat without embarrassing anyone, including myself!…. I’m sure my escort friends reading this will be thinking of some stories I’ve told them.
Why don't we just say the body is unpredictable, and leave it at that!

JJ: What are you doing now work wise?

Marci: I am working part time by appointment as an independent private escort based in Brisbane. I also tour regularly to other cities. My next tours are Melbourne January 18-20thand Sydney February 20-23rd.

JJ: Guys of you're in Melbourne or Sydney make sure you treat yourself to spending sometime with this amazing woman you won't regret it.

Where is the best place for people to follow you online?

Marci: Right now, I’d say my Twitter is my most active media platform @RomaineMarcella. You can also find my escort profiles on Scarlet Blue, Available Angels and Private Girls Australia.

JJ: What’s the best thing about sex?

Marci: Besides the obvious, I’d say that it’s a truly universal language!

JJ: That's the first time someone has said that for this question and it's vey true. I've never thought about it that way.

What are your biggest turn ons?

Marci: I have a vast sexual palette. But confidence and humour never fail to seduce, as cliched as that may sound…. And strong, certain hands. Another person’s hunger that you can see and feel.

JJ: Having a vast sexual palette is something that leeps sex exciting because you're always open to something different.

The important question now, what’s your favourite movie?

Marci: The one that always springs to mind first is Amelie (2001) A bittersweet french comedy directed by Jean Pierre Jeunet and starring Audrey Tautou. It’s just beautiful.

JJ: That film is truly a classic. I loved that film and it's something more people should watch.

What’s your favourite holiday destination?

Marci: I’m crazy for the islands of Thailand and have stayed on Samui and Ko Phangan several times. Next on the wishlist would be Spain, Croatia and the Greek Islands.

JJ: Don't for forgetting about England haha maybe not so sunny but I hear lovely gentlemen here haha.

Tell me one thing about yourself that people would never know by looking at you?

Marci: I’m a people person but I definitely recharge my batteries by spending time with just my partner or alone. I need that quiet time to function. It’s non negotiable!
Confident people can still be classic introverts.

JJ: Well everyone needs that time I think but not everyone realises it and leave it too long and by that point it's too late.

What’s been your biggest achievement in life or work.

Marci: I’m interested in lots of things and tend to work hard toward one thing at a time.
In high school I won the National Gallery of Australia’s Summer Scholarship (for young aspiring artists)
At 23 I won Australian Penthouse Pet of the Year
and in 2014 I competed as a natural figure athlete in a double season and won both my regional categories then a national silver medal 5 months later.
My biggest achievement in progress is learning how to trust my own gut above the advice and influence of others.

JJ: You have so many great achievements already and you have so many more ahead I am very sure of that.

What’s the most challenging thing you’ve had to overcome?

Marci: I think most people have had to overcome a significant issue of some sort by the time they reach 30. Life’s storms and losses are difficult to endure, yet also help us to realise what’s truly important.

JJ: What’s the best thing a fan has ever done?

Marci: You definitely receive a lot of compliments in this industry, which are nice to hear, but they have to be taken with a grain of salt. It’s our job to look attractive, perform well and provide a personalised service.
I’ve received some really lovely reviews this year. I much prefer these to gifts, because they are relative to my business and help me continue to build a compatible client base.
I do have a memory of a letter a really young guy wrote me many years ago, after I performed as a stripper at his birthday. He’d somehow made the effort to send it to my agent’s PO Box or something and the content was really quite touching, not the sort of thing you’d usually expect!

JJ: I think a heartfelt letter of appreciation is so much more beautiful sometimes than lavishing expensive gifts as it's something that means so much more.

What’s one bit of advice for anyone wanting to get into the adult industry?

Marci: Well, it’s an enormous industry with a lot of variety. What works for one individual may not work for another. But I would say that the best results come when you treat it like any other business; good customer communications and rapport, high performance standard and keeping a good balance with your personal time, relationships and interests.

JJ: I think giving people a little bit of advice can only help people come into the industry with more realistic aspirations and expectations.

Finally, What’s the weirdest rumour you’ve heard about yourself?

Marci: Nothing that wasn’t true so far!

JJ: Haha well that's always a good thing then haha.

Thank you so much for being with us today. It's been an absolute pleasure. You're an absolute pleasure to interview. Have an amazing 2017.
