Today I’m interviewing one of the sexiest and kinkiest women in the UK. She is one of the few women in the industry who leaves me lost for words for many reasons. Welcome the incredible and naughty Miss Marilyn to Inside the Porn.
JJ: Welcome to Inside the Porn. It’s a pleasure to have you with us today.
What got you into the adult industry?
Marilyn: My parents! Mostly my dad, actually. Which sounds a little perverse but really it’s quite the opposite. When I was sixteen, choosing what subjects I was going to take in my senior years at high school, I was - of course - trying to figure out what I would like to do in my life and what qualifications I would need to do it. I had wanted to be a lawyer for quite a few years at this point but while looking into ‘careers’, I began looking at alternative jobs to have…a little more creative and freelance. My dad suggested I looked into being a Dominatrix, so I did. He suggested it because it’s an empowering job for a female to have, but also because - being a carpenter - he’d always wanted to make fetish furniture but never had the time. For the next year I sent emails off to a number of Dommes both in my area and a bit further afield, asking questions and naively asking for an apprenticeship. Very few replied and the ones that did were particularly horrible, haha. I forgot about it for a few years but it stayed in the back of my mind…then eventually a few years later, I kinda fell into it by accident.
JJ: That’s not the answer I was expecting haha. It’s great though that you had such great support that’s for sure.
What's the best thing about the industry?
Marilyn: For the past few years, I’d say it’s definitely been the support and encouragement I’ve received from fellow Dommes/SW’s. But in the very beginning, when I first started out that friendliness was rarely there. I think it’s because so many girls come and go and seeing as it can be a ridiculously bitchy scene sometimes, people understandably stay quite guarded sometimes until someone’s been around for quite a while. Overall though, it is the community of the ‘scene’ that I’d say was the best thing about the industry as a whole. I’ve met some of my absolutely favourite people of all time doing this job.
JJ: The friendships and networks that come from being in this industry are amazing once they realise you’re genuine. It’s been a personal highlight for me too.
What's the worst thing about the industry?
Marilyn: It can be incredibly catty/bitchy. Like any other freelance industry, it is competitive which can create a lot of friction. From time to time, there also seems to be cliques….which has always just seemed so high school to me. It’s pretty rare nowadays though, but back when I started it seemed to be prevalent.
JJ: The industry in general is becoming more positive and supportive slowly but surely with the exception of the odd individuals spouting negativity and lies etc but they are slowly getting pushed out of the industry because of that attitude.
What's the funniest thing to happen whilst working?
Marilyn: God! I’ve cried with laughter so many times during sessions over the years but the funniest thing I can recall is from a Double Domme session where we dressed the sub up as a French maid, put a feather duster up his arse and made him sweep the dungeon floor while singing both Je Ne Regrette Rien and Voulez Vous by ABBA. I still have a video of it somewhere. I think I laughed for about 3 days after it.
JJ: That sounds hilarious. I hope he reads this and it reminds him of that session. You have a deliciously cruel streak haha.
What are you up to work wise at the moment?
Marilyn: There’s been a big shift in my personal life recently which has meant I’ve been a lot busier than usual with some vanilla work as a freelance make up artist, which is what I did before becoming a Domme. As well as that, I still take sessions from the wonderful Auld School in Glasgow and try to put out as many clips as I can when I have the time. I’ve found that it’s such a great way to make money, but does take up so much time. I much prefer real-time sessions but subs can be so specific about when they’re available, that a lot of the time it’s hard to find a time that works for both me & them. I will be heading down to Manchester once every few months to take sessions and am planning to head to Aberdeen just as frequently to session there too!
JJ: Sounds like you’re being kept very very busy at the moment which is never a bad thing. And I’m even more thankful you squeezed me into your schedule.
Where is the best place for people follow you online?
Marilyn: Twitter, without a doubt. I have Instagram as well, but that’s about it! I post daily on Twitter and absolutely love it. My Twitter is @missmarilynx
JJ: What's the best thing about sex?
Marilyn: The best thing about sex is that it’s the only place and time that you can really let go in life. It all depends on who it’s with, obviously but if you get that bit right, you can just release yourself and regress back to pure feral madness! Life is so fucking stressful, no matter how well you’re doing so sex is the ultimate relaxer.
JJ: That’s very true. No matter how crazy and stressful life is sex will always make me feel better.
What are your biggest turn ons?
Marilyn: A really good mouth is my ultimate number one! But they’re rare. They need to have beautiful lips and great teeth, and although you might assume in this day and age, everyone has relatively good dental hygiene…they actually don’t! I’m quite simple actually. I love clean people with good personal and dental hygiene. Oh, and gotta have clipped clean nails too. I sound really boring, don’t I? Aside from my obsession with cleanliness, my biggest turn on is just a total tease. Lean in like you’re about to kiss me, then don’t. Whisper/groan all the things you want to do to me….while we’re out at dinner with our friends. Make me really horny in uncomfortable situations and watch me crumble like a triple-dipped digestive.
JJ: The teasin in public is always me weakness. It somehow that works every time with me. I love to tease and be teased and I’m sure you can guarantee guys will be paying attention on how to drive you wild.
The question we all want to know the answer to now. What's your favourite movie?
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. How cliché, I know.
JJ: That’s one of my favourite films. It was done so well.
Whats your favourite holiday destination?
Marilyn: I LOVE the Highlands, especially the Isle of Skye. I worked as an au pair up there when I was seventeen and have been in love with it ever since.
JJ: That’s somewhere I’ve never been. Seems so remote which has its benefits I’m sure.
Tell me one thing about yourself that people would never know by looking at you?
Marilyn: I’m mad about History. Think Mark Corrigan, but hot.
JJ: History is a subject which has so many stories attached within it that it can never be boring.
What's been your biggest achievement in life or work?
Marilyn: Still being alive! And I say that in the least depressing way possible.
JJ: I can speak for everyone when I say we are all glad you are still alive haha.
What's the most challenging thing you've overcome?
Marilyn: I had a mental breakdown just after I had turned nineteen, which resulted in me having a horrific schizoaffective episode that landed me in a secure psychiatric unit. It was a huge strain on both me and everyone in my life. Nobody knew how to deal with it. My friends and long term boyfriend couldn’t handle it and left my life completely. It took nearly a full year for me to drag myself back into the world of the living. By which point - aside from my family - I had absolutely no one. I was hella fucked up by this as you can imagine and it took me such a long time to function properly again. It’s all very sad and a bit pathetic, truth be told. But nothing in my life has ever been as difficult as that was….and I hope nothing ever will be again. I’ve always been extremely open about my struggles with mental health because I think it’s ridiculously important to be. It does make me appear weak and self indulgent to some people, but a lot more people message and say they’ve struggled with it too than the ones who judge. It was the worst time in my life, but I am so happy I managed to get through it because I’m alive now and man, I’ve had a fucking great time.
JJ: You’re am extremely brave and strong woman to be so honest and open about your past like that. It’s a sign of the person you are and that you can be so open about mental health will hopefully help break the stigma and help other people who might be struggling to talk to someone about it.
What's the best thing a fan has ever done for you?
Marilyn: Well, one of my subs - who I no longer session with because he can’t travel through to Glasgow - bought me a laptop when mine broke a few years ago, AND bought me a new computer quite recently. I could have bought them myself but it would’ve meant that I’d have really struggled financially for a while. It meant the world to me!
JJ: It’s great whenyour fans help and show they appreciate you and your work by wanting to help.
What's one bit of advice for anyone wanting to get into the adult industry?
Marilyn: Be yourself. Don’t feel like you need to look a certain way or feel pressured to offer specific services or content. There’s a niche out there for everyone, and there’s somebody who’ll pay for it.
JJ: That’s Great advice. Something more people should consider when coming into the industry.
What do you think you'll do if you leave the industry?
Marilyn: My long term plan is to write. I’ve had a few pieces published over the years, but only ever online. I’ve been writing a book about my life for a few years now and already have opportunities to have it published. I would love to go ahead with it but find whenever I try to finish it, I get so down. Although I know my experiences would help other people and more importantly make them laugh, it’s fucking depressing having to relive some of the things I still need to write about. And I’m not a fan of crying all day in my pyjamas.
JJ: If anyone can relive that and turn those negative times into positives for other people then it’s you. I know I’m looking forward to reading anything you write.
Finally, what's the weirdest rumour you've heard about yourself?
Marilyn: It was a common joke for the cool guys in my year at high school to be accused of having sex with me. I was a pretty hardcore goth at the time and often heard/was asked about my various sexual trysts with many different members of the in-crowd. Not a particularly weird rumour, but that’s as exciting as it got I’m afraid.
JJ: oh I don’t miss those school days at all. Some of the rumours I used to have about people were crazy. No doubt try they’re even more incredulous.
Thank you so much for being with me today. It’s a pleasure as always and look forward to reading your work and seeing more of you soon.
